Nkwe Platinum Limited is pleased to announce the approval of the Mine’s 3rd Generation Social and Labour Plan (SLP) by the Department of Mineral Resources. The approved SLP, with a proposed investment of over R24 million, will guide the Mine’s socio-economic development activities from 2024 to 2028. This significant milestone underscores its steadfast commitment to supporting and uplifting the communities surrounding its mining operations. The Mine has, to date, invested more than R57 million in the implementation of its two previous SLPs since being awarded the mining right.

The approved SLP encompasses a range of initiatives designed to foster sustainable development and enhance local economic opportunities. A central component of the plan includes robust community training programmes, aimed at empowering individuals with valuable skills and knowledge. These training opportunities will cover skills development and various capacity building workshops, all tailored to improve employability and career prospects within the mine communities of Zijin Garatau Platinum Mine.

In addition to skills training, the SLP places a strong emphasis on local economic development. Nkwe Platinum Limited is dedicated to driving economic growth in Garatouw, Maandagshoek, Hoepakrantz, De Kom, and Makwana through implementation of community development projects aligned to the Integrated Development Plans (IDPs) of local municipalities of Fetakgomo Tubatse and Makhuduthamaga.

Nkwe Platinum Limited believes that these initiatives will have a profound and positive impact on its communities, and the Company is eager to collaborate with local leaders and residents to ensure the successful implementation of the SLP.

Nkwe Platinum Limited would like to thank all its stakeholders for their continued support and engagement. They look forward to working closely with you to build a brighter and more prosperous future for all.

A copy of the approved SLP will be made available for viewing at the Burgersfort Public Library, Ratau Primary School, Phuti Nare Secondary School, Fetakgomo Tubatse and Makhuduthamaga Local Municipalities, and at the Tribal Councils of Kone Phuti, Ma Mphahlane, Ga Komane, Mabhedla and Ga Makwana.
