Prospect: De Wildt

Location: The properties that make up the De Wildt Prospect are located 10km east of Brits and the Barplats Crocodile River platinum operation, being directly adjacent to Eland Platinum. The project area comprises 2,300ha with the following features:

• This project contains a potential strike length in excess of 6km;
• 2.3km confirmed UG2 open cut potential outcrop;
• Wide (average 1.7m) chromatiferous pyroxenitic footwall target mineralization extends over the eastern and central area of the project, lending to potential wide seam extraction methods; and
• A UG2 Pt:Pd prill split is well in excess of 3:1, allowing De Wildt to share in the upper level of the industries potential PGE basket prices, with a more conventional 2:1 split in the footwall.

Resource: The resource statement for the project as achieved to date is set out below, ranging from surface outcrop to a depth of 800m. The UG2 over this area has been found to contain a chromatiferous pyroxenitic footwall, which has been identified within the majority of the borehole data over the central and eastern project area. The entire target mineralization quoted above is attributable to this feature:

This resource and target mineralization was calculated by Nico Bleeker, an employee of Nkwe and is for 100% of the project. Nkwe’s BEE consortium holds a 26% stake, with 74% of the above resource base directly attributable to Nkwe Platinum Ltd. 

Note: This Project to date focuses entirely on the UG2 reef, with the Merensky reef forming part of the Marikana facies, with its PGE values sporadically disseminated over the entire 15m width, limiting the economic potential of this layer to date.
